MINI YOUTH CLUB
The Club has started again, thanks (to the enthusiasm of Rita Spurden. There will be a film show on Sunday, October 16th: Adults 35p; Children 25p. The film will be a comedy and the show is scheduled to last from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Make a date and fill the hall to help the Club funds.
The sudden death of Mrs. Jill Sedge is a great loss to the club. She worked so hard and gave encouragement to all our efforts. She will be missed more than we can say. May I appeal for more helpers to take her place, so that the Club may go on from strength to strength, providing something for the children to do - as Jill Sedge would have wished.

HALL AND PLAYING FIELD COMMITTEE
The Fete and flower Show was favoured with very good weather and we had a fine profit of £280! This is an all time best! May I thank all who contributed in various ways. The lovely steam engines were a greet attraction, and I am pleased to report that the Tug-'o-War between Mr. Smith and his steam roller and the children was won by the children!!! The dog show, so ably organised by Mr. sand Mrs. Trayhern, is becoming a growing attraction. The dance was well supported and, thanks to the hard work of Jean, Ike sand Mrs. Taylor, showed a good profit. The marathon had a record number of entries and the winner was Eli Smith; but the Cup went to Martin Makepeace: congratulations on a very fine race. It is hoped that soon rugby will be played on the playing field.

Apart from some painting of new plaster which will be done in due course, the necessary repair work started in the summer has been completed on Stockbury's thirteenth century church. In reporting this I want to say a hearty 'thankyou' to everyone who has helped to raise the money towards the cost. We have been awarded grants ....(cont.)
