SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS - June 6th, 1977
As at the Coronation, the weather was against us, but regardless of that the help was outstanding, the spirit high, and the turn-out by the village was beyond all hopes.
Apart from the rain at the end of the Street Party and the beginning of the Sports, the rain left us alone for all the rest of the day.
So many people helped towards making it a great day that it would be impossible to thank everybody by name. However, a few must be singled out, but our thanks go to everybody for all they did.
Regarding the Street Party, a special mention must go to Mr. and Mrs. Bennett, who were responsible for getting all the food and the wine, and to Mrs. Doris Lloyd for making that superb Jubilee Cake, ....(cont.)
