At the first meeting of 1977, Mrs. Ingle welcomed Mrs. Holland as a new member. Plans were discussed to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee and, among other suggestions, it was proposed that a tree be planted bearing a commemorative plaque and this is being considered. Names were taken of members wishing to visit the Stock Exchange in February and 'The Ideal Home' Exhibition in March.
Members were treated to a tonic by the speaker, Miss M. Rumbold, who entertained us with 'From Home for Country' - some of her experiences in the Land Army. A very happy afternoon was enjoyed by all.
Mrs. S. Macklen won the 'Flower of the Month' competition and tea was given by Mrs. D. Russell and her helpers. On February 8th Mrs. J. Gorlov will be telling us about the role of a Jewish Housewife.

If anyone gets their magazine before February 1st, here's a reminder that the 'Homebake' evening is at 'Barleyfields' and not at 25 Dane Close.
On February 15th there is to be a Musical Evening at the Vicarage, when Audrey Fowler and Wendy Parry will be playing and singing for us. Audrey and Wendy belong to Wigmore Church.
The annual Pancake Race will be held as usual on Shrove Tuesday, February 22nd, at 10 a.m.; starting outside the church gate. Please support this and let us have more competition than ever this year.
On the evening of Shrove Tuesday there is to be a social get-together in the form of an Indian Evening at Burwell Grange, Hartlip, and all who would like to go should get in touch with Judith Mowll.
