The August 1977 edition covered both August and September. There was no separate September issue.

royed something of theirs. That would be another story, I'm sure! Well, whoever it is who is doing these stupid things, just think what a nuisance and an expense you are to other people!

HARTLIP W.I.

Once again we were fortunate enough to have a lovely sunny afternoon for our July meeting, which was held in the garden of 'Woodpeckers', by kind permission of Mrs. A Hawkins. Birthday sprays were distributed by Mrs. R. Marshall, looking fit again after her recent accident.

Arrangements were finalised for various outings and some of the finished articles to be sold at Debenham's in October were on display.

Mrs. Ingle proposed a vote of thanks to Mrs. Hawkins, and a splendid tea was provided by Mrs. M. Ferrett and her helpers. The 'Flower of the Month' competition was won by Mrs. Chisman. There will be no meeting as such in August, but an outing to Pattyndene Manor, Goudhurst, has been arranged for August 9th, and the coach will leave the church at 1.30 p.m.

ANOTHER HAPPY DAY

June 25th proved a very happy and successful day at Hartlip, when a Garden Party at the Vicarage and a Celebratory Concert in church were held to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee Year. The Weather could have been kinder, but people came in the afternoon and again in the evening, when the Southwark Singers and Orchestra provided a popular programme of Music for a Jubilee. The financial result was pleasing, there being a profit of about £70 on the day's proceedings. One feature of the Garden Party was a children's painting competition. There were about sixty entries and prizes were won by the following children: 5-7 age group: Aimie Brawley and Maxine Lucas; 8-10 age group: Sabina Pusch and Jillian Entwistle; 11-13 age group: Robin Russell and Tracy Page. Congratulations to them all.
