MOTHERS' UNION

At our first meeting this season, on October 21st, Mrs. Joan Auger was admitted to the M.U. and welcomed into our branch membership. The meeting on November 18th was opened with prayer by the Vicar, and then Mrs. Williamson welcomed our speaker, Police Sergeant J. Booty, and her colleague, W.P.C. Thorburn. We listened with interest to a detailed account of life in the force in 1976.

Our New Year's meeting on January 20th, will be a service in the church, when the Revd. Frank Doe, Vicar of Preston-next-Faversham will give the address. The service will begin at 2.30 p.m.

Our December meeting was Members' Day, when Mrs. Pat Tong and her helpers took charge of the proceedings, organising several competitions and providing a delicious tea.

The winner of the Flower of the Month competition for the year was Mrs. Hallam. The new President, Mrs. Joan Ingle, stated that the competition will continue next year as it has proved to be very popular ... so search your gardens for flowers in January.

Get well cards were signed by all members present for Mrs. Anne Hawkins and Mrs. Marjory Wallis. The hostess for next month is Mrs. Dorothy Russell and the speaker will be Miss Rumbelow remembering her days in the Land Army.
