CENTENARIAN DIES

A well known former resident of Hartlip, Mrs. Agnes Clout, died in December at the age of 104 years. She had lived in Walderslade for the last few years and had kept in reasonably good health considering her great age. May she rest in peace.

CONFIRMATION 1977

We are to have a Confirmation again in 1977, this time at Hartlip on July 10th at 10.00 a.m. Although this may seem a long way off, I would like anyone who is interested to get in touch with me as soon as possible so that I can arrange preparation classes. There will be an opportunity to say more later, but at this stage I would just mention that there is no age limit for Confirmation, though thirteen is a common age among candidates, and if there is a wide age range to be prepared, then classes will be split into adult's and young people's groups. Confirmation classes provide an opportunity to find out what the Christian Faith is all about and do not commit anyone to actual Confirmation, though it is hoped that candidates will wish to be Confirmed - and that is a commitment! Because it is a commitment, a commitment for life, and by way of preparation for it, candidates must attend church every Sunday morning and come to all the preparation classes.
