In closing, I would like to refer to some events that have taken place recently. First, the School Carol Concert on December 14th. The church was full for this and the children gave us a lovely evening of singing and playing under the guidance of Mr. Burgess and with the help of Mr. Carey, our organist, who accompanied some of the singing. Thank you to all concerned. Unfortunately, I had to miss part of the concert and that part included a Nativity Play performed by the Infants of our school. But I'm told that they did extremely well, and so thank you to them and to Miss Wyatt and any who helped her produce the play.
Another Nativity Play was put on by the Sunday School chilrden at the annual Carol and Gift Service at Hartlip on the Sunday before Christmas, and that, too, was done very well (despite some anxious moments at rehearsal) and thanks are due to all who took part and to all who helped them.
One other event that I must mention is the Christmas Dinner of the Not So Young Club (what a lovely title that is) at Stockbury. Mary and I were invited and, as we always enjoy any visits we pay to the club, we accepted very happily. And what a grand evening it was! Eighty-five people sat down to an excellent meal, and this was followed by some superb entertainment given by a group of people who, I believe, are called The Vinters (if I'm wrong there, I apologise to them), and who played and sang to the great delight of everyone there.
Finally, thank you to all who helped decorate both our churches for Christmas and who washed linen or did anything else towards making the festival a real celebration.
Yours sincerely,
Neville Brook.
