Village Hall Committee
Owing to adverse weather the Village Hall Fete had to be transferred rather hurriedly from the Playing Field to the Village Hall. Thanks to some valiant efforts by stall-holders and others this was accomplished with a minimum of confusion.
Sir John Hanson, Bt., opened the Fete and many people crowded the Hall for the speeches. Some brisk business was done at the stalls and all reported a good turnover. When the weather improved, sideshows were opened on the Field and a large crowd made their way to witness the Challenge Tug of War between Hartlip and the Buckinghamshire farmers, which resulted in a win for the Visitors.
A successful Social and Dance was held in the evening when we acted as hosts to the visitors, and a further Social and Dance was held on the following Saturday.
The Chairman of the Village Hall Committee wishes to thank everyone who helped so generously with gifts and services to make the festivities such a success, and regrets that owing to limited space he is unable to mention individuals. A total, net profit of £130 is expected.

PARISH NOTES
Car Rally
A fine evening, 18 cars and over 50 people taking part all contributed towards a successful and pleasant rally. Keen competition brought some close results, with Messrs. Lawrence, Croucher and Buchan gaining respectively the first three places. Church Funds benefitted by £4 7s. 0d.
Church Army Visit
July 14th saw a much-appreciated deputation from the Church Army. Capt. Dearden (himself from their H.Q. Clothing Department) reminded us by personal testimony and by leaflets of the ubiquitous and practical nature of the work of the C.A. - at the seaside, in the parish mission, running hostels and canteens and, in fact, caring, as Christ commanded us, for all in need.
