may I again ask organisations to see that electricity is not wasted. This can help to keep down our expenses which, like everyone's, continue to rise. Windows are being broken by young children and this causes an unnecessary expense. Our next major event will be the Christmas Fayre when all organisations will participate. Our hope is that we shall beat last year's result!

THE NOT SO YOUNG CLUB
Fifty-six members were at our first meeting after the summer break on Tuesday, September 6th. Our speaker that evening was from The Samaritans. A fortnight later we (fifty-five of us this time) enjoyed the music of the Stratford House Wind Orchestra. The concert was kindly arranged by Mrs. Friday, whose granddaughter was taking part.
Our last meeting on October 4th was our Harvest Supper and Autumn Show. The Hall was decorated by one of the members, and everyone enjoyed the evening very much. The judges had a hard task judging a very good number of entries.
We sincerely hope that Mr. Cox and Mr. Nunn who are both in hospital will soon be well and with us again. Also Uncle Stan Pearson who was a little off colour then. We miss you all.

STOCKBURY GARDENERS' ASSOCIATION
The October meeting was our Autumn Show and A.G.M. which was attended by thirty-three members. It was very nice to welcome two new members, which means that we now have a total of forty-six. The President, Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer were all re-elected. Mrs. Wright won the "Doo Cockett" Memorial Tray for the highest number of points in the Show, which was very well supported. Mr. Overy will be showing us some slides at our next meeting on November 4th at 7.30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall.

HELP THE AGED APPEAL
This was held in September (if not for the very first time, at any rate the first for some time) and I would like to thank those who supported it so well. Also, thank you to Mrs. Lewis who was in charge of the collection depot in Stockbury.

STOCKBURY CHURCH
The appeal for money to pay for repairs continues to gain support in the village. The envelopes which were given out have now produced over £100 and the Bingo and Ploughman's Supper put on by Ike and Jean on September 24th, raised £90, a marvellous result. Thank you very much to all concerned.
Unfortunately the 'Going for a Song' session arranged for October 26th had to be cancelled, but we hope that such an event will take place in the New Year.
The work on the church (not much to see really, but work is very expensive now, as you all know) is now completed - we're just waiting for the bill! Thanks again.
