THE VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE

The Village Hall Committee has given careful consideration to the finances involved in running the hall in these days of rising costs. At the present time, the outgoings exceed the income from hall lettings by about 50%. This deficit is being offset out of the contributions of the various fund raising activities undertaken by the Hall Committee and by other organisations in the village, rather than out of the payments of the users of the hall.

It is the Committee's view that the results of fund raising activities should not be used to subsidise lettings of the hall but should be spent on major repairs and redecoration, together with the provision of improved facilities for everyone who uses the hall.

The repair and redecoration of the Billiard Room is a matter of great urgency, and when this is accomplished there will be a pressing need to install an adequate heating system.

In order to put the running of the hall on a solvent basis, the Committee has approved a new Scale of Charges to become effective from 1st November, 1977. These charges have been graded so as not to bear too heavily on those who organise functions for small groups, often with the object of contributing to the funds of either the Church or the Village Hall.

New Year's Eve Dance

As previously announced, the Village Hall Committee is arranging a New Year's Eve Dance for all villagers and their friends to attend, and it is hoped that as many of you as possible will support this function. It will commence at 9.0 p.m. and end after 'seeing in' the New Year. Dancing will be to Andrew Kift's Party Sound and refreshments will be provided for an inclusive charge of £2.00. Tickets will be available from any member of the Hall Committee on and after November 30th, and it would be appreciated if payment could be made when ordering tickets.
