meetings and everyone present seemed to enjoy it.

On May 3rd we are going on an outing to Bradbury House at Milton Regis. Members are to meet at 'Barleyfields', the home of Jean Pyle, at 7 o'clock. Our other meeting in May is on the 17th in the Village Hall when we are to have a talk on Crime Prevention. May I once more remind members that meetings start at 8 p.m, and that, therefore, we ought to arrive between 7.45 and 7.55 p.m.

HARTLIP W.I.

"Some thoughts on Fashion" was the title of a most interesting talk given by Mrs. Edith Rowland at the April meeting. Members were enthralled as we were taken through the ages, noting the changes in fashion. Mrs. M. Harlow proposed a vote of thanks and Mrs. R. Marshall presented birthday sprays.

Mrs. Macklen read a report prepared by her husband on nuclear waste to help with our resolution for the Albert Hall. Our sincere thanks go to Col. Macklen far his splendid effort.

Mrs. S. Lawrence gave an excellent report on the Annual Council meeting held at Margate on March 28th. An outing is being arranged to Kew Gardens on Wednesday, 22nd June; and husbands, friends and non-members will he very welcome. Please ring 842345 if you are interested: the entrance fee is only 1p.

Mrs. Carlton won the Flower of the Month competition and an excellent tea was prorvided by Mrs. Williamson and her helpers. Please remember the Bring and Buy Stall at the May meeting. The proceeds will go to the 'Toc H' to provide bells for the elderly.

THE VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE

At the recent meeting of the Committee, complaints were received that some users of the Hall fail to leave it in a reasonably clean and tidy condition. The co-operation of all people who use the Hall is requested so that the Committee's arrangements to keep the Hall clean are not made virtually impossible.

The billiard table, which has been in the room adjoining the Hall far over 50 years, had not been used for many years. It had been vandalised and needed considerable expenditure to put it into a good state of repair. It was decided to sell it and use the proceeds for improving the general condition of the Hall. Plans are also being made to make the room suitable for games and small meetings.

Arrangements are in hand for the Silver Jubilee Children's Party which will be held in the Hall an Saturday, 28th May, from 3 p.m, to 5.30 p.m. All children who live in the Parish and who are between 3 and 11 years of age are to be invited.

The Dance, planned for the following Saturday, 4th June, is intended to celebrate the Silver Jubilee and to help meet the cost of the Children's Party. Tickets, which will be available shortly from members of the Committee, will cost £2.00. This will include a disco and refreshments.

CHOIR NOTES

Choir comings. After a lengthy period of small numbers in the choir, it is especially good to welcome four new members: Jonathan and Nicholas Gunn, Peter Jarvis and Simon Chandler, who were all admitted at the Parish Communion on Easter Sunday.

....and goings. Change is a fact of life, and any organisation or group of people will always undergo this process. So it is with our choir ....(cont.)
