THE NOT SO YOUNG CLUB
More than fifty members have attended our last two meetings. On November 1st we had a talk by Mr. B. Wright and on the 15th we had a Coffee Evening with Singing, Dancing and Games, and two of our members entertained us with some of the old songs at the piano.
A profit of £61 was made at our recent Jumble Sale and Whist Drive. Two new members have joined us, I'm glad to say; we still have one or two members who are sick, but we hope that they will be back with us soon.
Now we are looking forward to our Christmas Dinner on December 6th and to having the Vicar and Mrs. Brook with us on that occasion. May we wish you all a Happy Christmas. We'll be with you again in February as we take a little break for the winter.

STOCKBURY W.I.
We held our A.G.M. on Wednesday, November 9th in the Memorial Hall. It was well attended, but unfortunately our last year's President was unable to be with us because of family illness. Mrs. Davy, our Vice-President, took the chair and, after voting, Mrs. Richards, a very popular V.C.O., introduced our new President, Mrs. Wright. The Committee is as follows:- Mrs. Waller, Secretary; Mrs. Tompsett, Treasurer; and Mesdames Davy, Pearson, Kennard, Reader, Gray, Lewis and Wicks. A new member, Mrs. Dodd, was warmly welcomed and we are hoping to have several more new members in the near future.
Mrs. Richards gave a very interesting talk on how the W.I. was formed, and spoke of its growth over the years. Next year it will celebrate its Diamond Jubilee. The competition for 'A Hanging Christmas Decoration' was won by Mrs. Davy; second and third prizes went to Mrs. Gray and Mrs. Ezra, respectively. Flower of the month winner was Mrs. Tompsett. We are looking forward to a theatre trip to see "Showboat" at the Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone. Plans are well ahead for our annual Children's Christmas Party and Carol Service. Our next meeting is on December 14th: a Quiz with Stockbury Gardeners.

Thirty-three members were at our November meeting. Mr. Overy, from Barming, gave an interesting and entertaining evening with a varied selection of slides. The December meeting will be on the 1st in the Village Hall at 7.30 p.m. It will take the form of a friendly quiz with Detling Gardeners.
