CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

How encouraging it was to receive the thanks from 'Two Grateful O.A.P,'s' (last month's issue) for the Harvest Supper. Also encouraging was the number of friends who attended the opening service in the Methodist Church, and the good advice passed on by the Vicar in his message.

At our meeting on November 10th, about twenty-seven people heard Fr. Patrick Best, Roman Catholic Priest from Sheerness, speak about his experience of the Spiritual Renewal in the Church (or the Charismatic Renewal as it is called) in recent years.

I hope that our numbers will continue to grow. Our next meeting is scheduled to take place on December 8th at the Vicarage, but this may have to be changed because of the public meeting in the Village Hall. It would be as well to contact the Vicar or me nearer the time to check-up about this.

OPEN MEETING — Hartlip Village Hall, 8th December, 1977

The Parish Council very much hope as many people as possible in the Village will attend the Open Meeting.

The main purpose of this meeting is to hear views from the Village as to what they feel should be done with the balance of Jubilee funds collected earlier in the year for the Jubilee Appeal.

The Council will be putting forward certain suggestions that they have in mind but other views from the Village will be most welcome and we feel that it is a matter that as many people as possible should participate in.

At this meeting we shall also be discussing a suggestion put forward regarding the recreation ground and again comments on this will be much appreciated.

The meeting will be solely for these two purposes and other business cannot he considered as we feel that these topics will take up a considerable amount of time.

I very much hope you will he able to attend.

William Wakeley,
Chairman Hartlip Parish Council.

CAROL AND GIFT SERVICE

This will take place this year on Wednesday, December 21st at 7.30 p.m. and it is hoped that the children of our Sunday School will be taking part again. Gifts will again be taken to the Dr. Barnado's Home in Maidstone, where there are thirteen children, whose ages range from five to fifteen: Boys: one aged 5; one aged 9; one aged 10; 2 aged 11; one aged 13; one aged 14 and one aged 15; Girls: one aged 8; one aged 9; one aged 10 and two aged 15. N.B. Please mark each gift 'boy' or 'girl' and indicate the age group. And may I just add that it is often the older children who are least thought of at Christmas, so I hope that some givers will remember the 14 and 15 year-olds. Thank you.
