THE METHODIST CHURCH

The Church Council and members wish to thank the committee and members of the Youth Group for their generous donation given to our funds following the dance held in October. It will be put to good use for improvements to the building in the near future. It is heart-warming to know that young people have the wish to help others in this manner, and a privilege to publish it abroad when so often stones are thrown at the 'teenagers'. Thank you, Youth Club.

God bless you all.

Bob Pope.

ROYAL NATIONAL MISSION TO DEEP SEA FISHERMEN

Many thanks to all who supported us in our recent collection for their funds. A sum of £22 was collected.

HARTLIP W.I.

Our Annual Meeting commenced with Mrs. R. Marshall distributing birthday sprays and presenting Mrs. M. Farquharson, V.C.O., our Guest Speaker, with a bouquet. After the ballot for the new committee, and the usual business, Mrs. Farquharson explained the workings of the W.I. from the County level onwards.

Mrs. J. Ingle was again elected President, Mrs. J. Silver, Secretary, and Mrs. F. Juniper, Treasurer. Tea was provided by Mrs. E. Rowland and her helpers. The December meeting will be 'Members' Day', and all members are asked to bring four small cakes to swop on arrival, also their own crockery and cutlery to cut down on the washing-up! There will be a competition for a paper table-cloth no larger than 36 inches by 36 inches.

YOUNG WIVES

On the 18th October Mr. Cyril Pyle gave us a very interesting talk on Comprehensive School Education. He illustrated the extensive range of subjects now available, and gave his large audience guidelines as to what to look for when choosing their children's education at all age levels.

Our meeting on the 1st November was held in Rosina Ward's house. Mr. John Bradley gave us a talk on the work done by a Swedish Consul. We thank Rosina for making us so welcome.

On 8th November Canon David Diamond spoke to us about his life in Deptford. His descriptions illustrated the comic and also at times tragic side of running a Parish in such a large and varied community.

We held our Firework Party at the Vicarage. It was very well attended, and I am sure a good time was had by all.

Our forthcoming meetings for December are: 6th December, a Beauty Demonstration held in the Village Hall, and on the 20th December, our Annual Christmas Carolling around the Village. We are to meet at Barleyfields at 7.30 p.m. and afterwards, coffee at Newlands, Munns Lane.
