All the charm and history of a journey along the Military Canal from Hythe to Rye was enjoyed by members, when Mr. Gipson showed his slides of this at our March meeting.
Mrs. M. Noble proposed a vote of thanks, and Mrs. R. Marshall presented birthday sprays. Mrs. I. Carlton wan the competition for an Easter Card, which was then passed on to the Group Meeting at Eastchurch on March 14th. Tea was provided by Mrs. V. Kelvie and her helpers.
A change of programme for April: as Brigadier R. Carroll is unable to come, Mrs. E. Rowland will be speaking on 'Some Thoughts on Fashion'.

HARTLIP YOUNG WIVES
On Shrove Tuesday we held our Annual Pancake Race. Unfortunately it wasn't very well supported, but Jenny Mallion won the race and was presented with a non-stick frying pan. In the evening we held an Indian Evening, where we all enjoyed an assortment of delicious curry dishes. This was at Rosina Ward's house; and we thank her for making us so welcome.
At the A.G.M. on March 1st, Judith Mowll was re-elected Chairman but later found it necessary to stand down and another election was held on March 15th. (After the magazine went to press). The new committee comprises Delia Sollars, secretary, Mary Brook, treasurer, Pat Tong, village hall representative, Judith Mowll, Wendy Chandler, Audrey Beacham and Jean Pyle.
There will be only one meeting in April, on the 19th, when Mr. Gipson will be talking to us about Local History. We have invited the Young Wives from Rainham to join us for this meeting.
