PARISH NOTES
Farewell
And very best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Edmonds, of Munn's Lane, who move at the end of September to the Havant area, the move being entirely due to Mr. Edmond's work. We shall miss them in various community activities, Mrs. Edmonds being specially active in all R.S.P.C.A. work, whilst her husband willingly gave expert help and advice over electrical problems in church and hall.
The Churchyard
Is now tidy again. After making considerable effort to keep the grass short, Mr. George Howland, of Rainham, decided in August that he could not find the time for this task, as well as his other work. As a result of an urgent advertisement in our shop and Post Office, Duncan Rowland is now caring for the churchyard with energy and enthusiasm.
Church Worship
And interior will undoubtedly benefit from Mrs. Finn-Kelcey's talk on 8th September on floral art, with particular reference to pedestal arrangements. 20 people, including two welcome guests from Upchurch, were present to listen and watch, the whole demonstration being given with expertness and good humour. It is possible that we may have the good fortune of a second visit from Mrs. Finn-Kelcey next Spring.
Harvest Supper
Tickets are printed and can be obtained from Mrs. Partridge and Messrs. Roots, Bob Pope and Moore. The organisers much hope that all who come to the supper will feel inclined to stay for the social afterwards. This year it will be shorter and will consist more of entertainment (by guest artists) than of organised games.
Heating Appeal
We acknowledge with thanks donations from the under-mentioned. people, most of whom have generously subscribed a second time to the Fund after the Council's recent appeal to wipe off the debt as soon as possible. The total subscribed is now £495 and our target £650. Mrs. Wallis, one Anon, Mr. and Mrs. C. J.
