Guides and Brownines

Guides. We are very lucky to be a country company, and as the weather has been kind on Friday evenings, we have been able to meet out and prepare for out-door badges and camp.

At last this year we are having our own camp, so need equipment urgently! This, alas, is expensive; please may we have your help in our efforts to raise this money, or by donations which should be sent to Mrs. Taylor.

The Coy. has been running now for four years, and only once before have we asked for any financial help, because there are many other calls on Hartlip purses, but we cannot camp without the necessary equipment.

Brownies. The Pack had a most enjoyable day at London Zoo, and we also visited Guide Headquarters on the way. We managed to return with the same number of Brownies! Quite a number of badges have been worked for and won; most of the 2nd class Brownies have passed one, thus gaining some useful knowledge.

Cricket Club

Our A.G.M. in March led to a few changes. Mr. Wakeley is now our President, and Mr. A. Knight and Mr. M. Jones are captain and vice-captain respectively. The annual Dance on May 1st, though a pleasant occasion, did not receive as good support as last year but it still produced a net £18 8s. 3d. for our funds thanks to the generous support and hard work of some people (non-members as well as members), especially Mr. and Mrs. Chambers.

Now the season is upon us and one defeat and one win have been recorded. We are delighted to have an official scorer once more, in the person of Glenys Cox, and we will also be pleased to welcome anyone to the ground for our home matches, especially if they can umpire, even for a short time!

May 15 Stockbury 112 (Selling 3-32, Keeble 2-17, Holden 2-14).
Hartlip 87 (Knight 17, Green 17).
22 Goudhurst 31 and 21 (Keeble 9-21, Holden 5-10, Selling 7-10).
Hartlip 86 for 7 dec. (A. Carlton 23, Selling 16).
