STOCKBURY PARISH COUNCIL

The skip for rubbish will be placed behind the Hall from the 1st to the 4th of December, and again from the 9th to the 12th of March, 1979. This is a useful service but the P.C. would like to see it made available more often.

There is some fear that the library which is made available in the Village Hall may be taken away by the K.C.C., who do not seem to care at all what happens in our village. The P.C. is doing all it can to see that the library does not go.

There will be a twinning arrangement between Maidstone District and Beauvais in France and if anyone could offer accommodation would they kindly give details to the Council.

Some discussion has taken place with the Chairman of Bredgar Parish Council concerning boundary changes between the two parishes in the Pett area, but it has been agreed that no action be taken.

MINI YOUTH CLUB

The club held a successful sponsored walk around the Playing Field on Sunday, October 8th. Supporters were very generous, and the club members proved that they are good walkers. It is hoped that the venture will have raised about £40 for the funds towards a Christmas event.

HALL AND PLAYING FIELDS COMMITTEE

Hall bookings are still good and our finances are sound. It has been agreed to set up a sub-committee with the Gardeners' Association to arrange a special event to raise money to help pay for the marquee which is hired for the Annual Fete and Flower Show, as costs continue to rise. It has been decided to buy new mats for the front and back doors of the Hall as the existing ones have been in use ever since the Hall was built.

I hope that you will all give us your generous support at our Christmas Fayre on November 25th. It is the money from these events which helps the Committee to keep down the hire charges to local users of the Hall.

STOCKBURY GARDENERS' ASSOCIATION

The October meeting was our A.G.M. and Autumn Show entries were very high. Mrs. Clacey was the overall winner with Mrs. Wright and Mr. Bailey equal runners-up. It was very encouraging to see some of our new members amongst the prize-winners. Thirty-one members were present, including two new members from Hartlip, Mr. and Mrs. Gransden. All the officers from last year were re-elected with the exception of the Vice .... (cont.)
