FROM THE METHODIST MINISTER
Dear Friends,
February, 1967.
At the time of writing the future of our buildings is still in doubt, as we, are awaiting an Architect's report on the feasibility of converting our small hall into a place of worship, and of eventually demolishing the present chapel. Various possibilities for the future have been discussed and canvassed, but our decisions must wait until we have all the facts to lay before the church and trustees. Meanwhile our work and worship continues and we seek to play our part in witnessing to the things of Christ in our community.
Easter arrangements are much as last year. Some of St. Peter's congregation will be coming out from Gillingham on Good Friday, having tea in our hall, and then sharing with us in our Good Friday service at 6.30. On Easter Day, we shall have a morning service in addition to our usual evening service, and, this will include the celebration of Holy Communion.
May our preparation during the coming weeks be such as will make the meaning of the Cross, and the hope of the Resurrection yet more real to us.
Yours sincerely,
DENIS E. GARDINER.
PARISH NOTES
Congratulations
And sincere thanks to Rainham Amateur Theatrical Society for an excellent performance of "Cinderella" on 18th February in aid of our Hall Funds. It was a quite first-class production, superior, in the opinion of one parishioner, to that of a London company he saw a few days later.
Congratulations
Also to Mrs. McHaffey on gaining two 3rds in the Great Dane section of 1967 Cruft's Show.
Annual Vestry and Parochial Church Meeting
Please note in your diaries at once that these meetings are at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 28th March, at the School. All who are members of the Church of England should do their utmost to attend. In this connection, the Electoral Roll is available for inspection in the church all this month, together with forms of application. Minimum age is 17.
Sick Communions
Will be gladly arranged for any who are prevented by illness or infirmity from making their Easter Communion. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
Donations
Towards the cost of Easter lilies, in remembrance of some relation or friend, will be gratefully received by my wife or Mrs. Stevens and used for the sanctuary arrangements. Each lily usually costs about 5/-. Gifts of either white or yellow flowers for Easter Sunday will be welcomed, if possible brought to the church on the Saturday morning.
