PARISH NOTES
Church Repairs
Work has now stopped. Unfortunately repairs are in no way complete. Operations have centred mainly on the tower, though some maintenance has been done on the roof. The tower was found, after investigation, to be in need of extensive repairs in several places. Work carried out includes several new corner-stones on the north side, new lintols and uprights to the ringing chamber window, and the remaking of several areas of wall, externally and internally, which were cracked and in a dangerous condition. All this has incurred a bill of £500 (£50 more than budgetted for) and the rest of the work scheduled and urgently recommended by our architect has had to be postponed, due to lack of funds.
Christian Aid Week, 1966
Well done! We topped last year's total. At present the amount stands at £52, with a little more still due from Survival Ticket holders. A lot of people of all ages played a part. New to the list were the Youth Club's £16 from their Dance, the small but personal gifts of Mrs. Thomas' nursery school from their money boxes, and the contributions from members of the Golf Club. The Juniors under Mrs. Snape's guidance made three life-like haystack collecting boxes (the S.E. Area Organiser of C.A. wants photos of these and the "loaves", and their recipe); Mr. Bob Pope kindly produced some moire wooden stands and some M.U. members helped staff the C.A. shop in Sittingbourne. My wife and I were so pleased, too, to entertain more than usual at the Bread and Cheese lunch.
Lent
Missionary Boxes produced £10 18s. 8d. and a cheque for this amount has gone to the Church Missionary Society, whose tapes we hear once a month in church.

ROUND THE SOCIETIES
Christian Fellowship
The support given to the Fellowship during the past year has enabled the committee to make the following donations to charitable purposes from their funds: "Save the Children" Fund, £22 6s. 6d.; Christian Aid, £10 10s. 0d.; Feed the Minds Fund, £6; Sittingbourne Council of Churches, £l. The sum of £2 10s. 0d. has been given to Hartlip Methodist Church for the heating and lighting of the schoolroom used for our meetings. "Thank you", all who have made these, donations possible.
