stuffed with sausage meat and hard boiled egg. Most attractive when sliced and quite economical. And the money saved from cheap cuts during the week need present no problem. With true feminine logic we can always splash it on a really expensive joint for the weekend!

Try to come along the meeting on April 12th to see a film "Housewives Own" and if you have time make a carnival hat for the competition.

Village Hall Committee

The improvements in the kitchen and the purchase of new small tables were the chief items the committee reported to a poorly attended annual meeting. This year a barbecue will take the place of the fete. Both ideas and help are needed to make this a success - can you provide either? We need to raise between. £100 and £150 each year to keep the Hall in good condition. The officers for this year are:- Chairman, Miss A. E. Woodcock; Vice-Chairman, Mr. Moore; Secretary, Mr. Chambers; Treasurer, Mr. Lloyd. Mr. G. Auger, Mr. Croucher, Mr. B. Millgate, and Mr. Wallis were elected committee members, in addition to the organisation representatives.

Cricket Club

The Club, though never dormant in the winter (football for some, marriage for another and unobtrusive work on the "square" by yet another), has sprung to life again with its A.G.M. Officers remain the same, except that Mr. Len Selling is captain. In this connection we ought to record with real gratitude that Mr. Herbert Auger has been treasurer since, 1938! He has also cared for our equipment and spent many hours on the ground and square over these years. We intend to meet every Friday evening for work on the ground and would welcome the interest and support of new players or of well-wishers in the community.

Youth Club

Eight members of the Youth Club entered the Kent Messenger 50-mile walk on 25th March. The Club paid their entry and provided transport and refreshments. The walkers started from Margate at 11.0 p.m. and the best effort was made by Gerald Pope, who completed the 32 miles to Ashford. Not far behind him was Barry Harvey of Newington who could not make the last two miles to the Checkpoint at Ashford. Other results were David Tong (25 miles), Ray Hanson (25 miles), Alan Mannerings and Alan Davies (21 miles each). Paul Davison fell ill after five miles and was brought home with Martin Rogers, who was almost asleep on his feet at the five mile point.

On April 22nd the, Sittingbourne Judo Club pay a second visit to the Club and outings are being arranged to the R.A.F. Air-Sea Rescue base at Manston, and to the County Fire and Police Headquarters at Maidstone.
