PARISH NOTES
Hop-picking
Will have probably realised at least £66, just over half of which is due to our tally book, manned by Mrs. Buchan and Mr. Moore. Those of us who picked into the bin were blessed with wonderful weather, which made it very enjoyable. Until term began, several of the younger members of the parish picked regularly and well. Well done to all concerned.
Heating Appeal
For £600 has now just topped the £300. A Faculty has now been officially applied for and work on the improvements may begin in the second part of October. The churchwardens and I still hope to have most of the cost covered by the time the installation has been completed and would therefore welcome contributions from those who haven't already given to the Fund.
Harvest Supper
Tickets from the usual sources - Mr. Roots, Mr. Bob Pope, Mr. Moore and Mrs. Partridge.
A Warm Welcome
Is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Pearson and their three children from Rochester, who are this week taking over the licence and running of the Rose and Crown from Mr. and Mrs. Bounds. Another newcomer to Hartlip is Mrs. Thomas from Blackheath, who is living in the East Wing of the Parsonage and who, we hope, will also be very happy in this village.
Festival
With a difference is that of Bredgar Parish Church, who are staging a Festival of Saints on October 29th, 30th, and 31st. The Church will be specially decorated for All Saintstide with models of certain Saints and flowers, and among other things there will be talks on floral art, an organ recital and a display of some of the Church treasures. Full details are to be found in our own church porch.
Turn Out
Your drawers and cupboards and help keep our parish magazine on a sound financial basis. Anything, especially children's clothes, will be very welcome for our Jumble Sale on Saturday, 17th October. Offers of help, please, to Mrs. Stevens or myself, articles for sale to the Vicarage or Mrs. Titcomb, large amouts, willingly collected.
