PARISH NOTES

Information

About the two brasses in Hartlip Church was given me when on holiday by the Rev. J. F. Williams, retired clergyman in Swaffham and well-known antiquary. In the Osborne Chapel, they are both inscriptions and very old - 1461 and 1577, this latter to: " John Osbourne, one of the auditors of the exchequer ". Another reference book of Mr. Williams' named Hartlip as the possessor of one of the rare "register of apprentices", presumably among the parish records here which I have recently discovered and intend to examine soon.

Congratulations

To Mr. A. C. Taylor on his appointment as a Mary Gibbon Trustee of our Church School, in place of Mr. Geoffrey Stevens.

Our Sympathy

Goes to Mr. and Mrs. Harris, of the Tuck Inn, in their frightening ordeal at their home one night last month. We all hope they are fully recovered and are none the worse for this incident.
