CHURCH PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Autumn Term closed with the usual intensive Christmas activities. The nativity play, "Three Kings of Orient", attracted a good congregation, and resulted in nearly £7 being sent to the C. of E. Children's Society and two guineas more for the Organ Repair Fund. At the annual Social Evening the children gave a concert and some paraded in Fancy Dress. Good support ensured the presence of 120 parents, friends and children. At the beginning of term Mrs. Bailey was appointed caretaker and we are pleased to welcome her as a member of our team.

A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL HOUSEWIVES

"The king's daughter is all glorious within"

Ps. 45 v.13

Most of us made preparations of some kind for Christmas. Many of us were preparing for weeks beforehand. We were washing and baking, writing and packing, sewing and decorating. Did it all have any bearing on the religious significance of Christmas, or was, it just part of a traditional festival? With the onset of winter and the dark days it is good to have an opportunity for celebration and rejoicing, but if that is all there is to it, we shall be left afterwards feeling exhausted, and spent and without motive.

We make our houses sweet and clean. We need also to keep a deliberate time of prayer to seek forgiveness and cleansing of our hearts. We make exciting dishes and provide generously for our ever hungry families. It is also our privilege to fill our minds with the Word of God so that we can provide for their spiritual hunger. We send messages of greeting and presents with our love. We must be careful that too many responsibilities do not harrass and upset us. We ourselves are a living message - of God's love?

In a changing world mothers still have an important place, and if our own lives rest on a sure foundation, our children will yet have something to build on.

ROUND THE SOCIETIES

7.40 Group

Our members have enjoyed a busy but pleasant Christmas period. Our carol-singing at Keycol Hospital met with a wonderful response from the patients. The following Thursday we had a Social Evening to which we invited a few friends. In the days preceding Christmas Day several members visited some of the housebound and elderly, carrying seasonal greetings from the Group. Future plans are undecided but a visit to St. Mary Bredin, Canterbury, is planned for January.
