CHRISTIAN AID WEEK - 10-15 MAY
Are you aware that one person is dying of hunger every 5 seconds of every day? The World Council of Church is trying to help relieve this appalling situation. Here once again is their annual effort to raise funds to do this. It is also an easy way for EVERYONE of any age to play their part and to show their concern for others less fortunate than themselves.
In 1963 Hartlip sent £50, in 1964, £40 please help us to reverse this trend and instead to top the 1963 figure. You can do this in various ways :
1. Give direct into one of the LOAF COLLECTING-BOXES.
2. Come to the BREAD & CHEESE LUNCH at the Vicarage on 12th May.
3. Sell a BOOK OF "SURVIVAL TICKETS" (obtainable at Vicarage) at work or at school or at the club.
4. Send something new or second-hand to the CHRISTIAN AID SHOP in Sittingbourne - open 3-8 May.
5. Save all your POSTAGE STAMPS, English or foreign, and send them to me at the Vicarage.
6. Stage your own special INDIVIDUAL EFFORT.

ROUND THE SOCIETIES
Mothers' Union
A good attendance welcomed back Mrs. Illingworth on April 8th April to hear her stress the need for a rule of life, by which to face and to order each day. Prayers (preferably with the whole family) at the start of the day obviously set the tone but she realised the mother's and housewife's routine presented difficulties and she might often have to postpone them until a more suitable moment.
We were pleased to be joined over tea by Mr. Illingworth, also looking extremely well and clearly enjoying his retirement.
May Meeting - the Medway Towns Marriage Guidance Council.
A.G.
Women's Institute
Mrs. Trickle welcomed Mrs. Owsley and Mrs. Thomas as new Members and after the business of the Institute was discussed, during which Mrs. Marshall agreed to be our delegate at the A.G.M. at the Albert Hall in May. Mrs. Cook gave a fascinating talk and demonstration on Japanese flower arrangement. Mrs. Partridge gave a vote of thanks.
The Beetle Drive which Mrs. Williamson held in aid of funds was very successful - the sum of £4 16s. being raised.
The competition was for a flower arrangement and Mrs. Cook judgesd Mrs. Marchall's to be the winner, giving much helpful advice.
