ROUND THE SOCIETIES
Christian Fellowship
On 9th December we are visiting the new church of St. Matthew, Wigmore, and the Vicar and churchwardens will tell us about the planning and design of both church and community centre. We hope to arrange transport for all who wish to go; so, if you are one, please inform the Vicar or Mr. Moore.
The proceeds of the New Year Party on 8th January will once again be given to the Save the Children Fund. Last year our donation was £23 10s. We should be pleased to hear from anyone who is willing to give a raffle prize to help us pass that total. When tickets are available it is hoped that their sale will once again be generously supported.
It was encouraging to see our first meeting so well supported on a rather bad night. Those present were well rewarded for the effort of turning out.

Mother's Union
On 18th November we were very pleased to welcome our Presiding Member for the Deanery, Mrs. Phillips from Borden. It was a very gloomy, wet afternoon, so our numbers were not large. But all who came listened with interest to Mrs. Phillips talking on "A Saint of our day" - the life of Dorothy Kerin, which has made us all want to visit Burrwood to see and learn for ourselves more about her life of healing the sick. We are very sad to have to say good-bye to Mrs. H. Philpott who is to live with her daughter in Erith; for 25 years a loyal member of our branch.

About 20 members and a few husbands met in the hall on 16th November. They were shown some colour cine-photography films, which were produced by Mr. and Mrs. Couchman of Rochester. The general census of opinion seemed to be that the films were a higher quality than those produced by the average amateur; as Mr. Couchman explained, a tremendous amount of time was spent in what he called the "editing".
All members, please attend the meeting at 7.30 on 7th December in the Hall to discuss the Christmas Party.

Women's Institute
At a well attended meeting on 9th November members were pleased to see their cloth for the president's table completed and in use. It really is very beautiful and many members had contributed to the embroidering. Mrs. Kelvie read her report as delegate to the Council Meeting at Herne Bay - by all accounts a very good meeting. Mrs. Trickle was again elected our President and she thanked everyone who helped to make her first year in this office such a happy one. Mrs. Titcomb was thanked for all the help she gave, in so many ways; .... (cont)
