ROUND THE SOCIETIES
Women's Institute
Mrs. Trickle presided over the July meeting when Mrs. Lewis of the British nylon spinners gave a most interesting talk on the various uses of nylon and displayed some delightful garments and gave useful hints on washing them. Mrs. Wallis gave a vote of thanks. Mrs. Trickle thanked everyone who helped at the fete, and Miss Whitehead won the competition for something made from nylon.
Tea was provided by Mrs. Rowland and her helpers, and the social half-hour was enjoyed in a Bingo session, Miss Danby proving, to be a most accomplished "caller"!
An extra "open" meeting was held on the 19th when two demonstrators from Messrs. Cadburys gave a cookery session which was thoroughly enjoyed by the disappointingly small audience. The dishes which were made were drawn for, the lucky winners being Mrs. Scott, Mrs., Trickle, Miss Danby and Mrs. Rowland.
There will be no meeting in August, and please remember the next meeting, which is on September 14th, is at 2.30 p.m.

Village Hall - 1965 Fete
It was a great disappointment that Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey Stevens were unable to open the fete on 3rd July, because Mr. Stevens had to go into hospital on that very day. We all wish him a speedy return to normal health. To Mrs. Covill who took Mr. Stevens place almost literally at the last minute, we are exceedingly grateful for so kindly, ably and generously helping us out of a difficulty.
