FROM THE METHODIST MINISTER

Dear Friends,

It seems almost impossible that this is the last letter I shall write as the Methodist minister at Hartlip, and I am very sorry that the two years I have had pastoral care of this society, has passed so very quickly. I should like to say a word of appreciation to the members of the church for all their support and for carrying on the work in spite of many difficulties. After all, it is the courage and faithfulness of the few that maintains the constant witness of the Church.

A word of thanks. to the members of the Parish Church whose friendliness and co-operation over recent years have helped to promote a very healthy state of understanding and fellowship between our churches. And finally a personal word of special thanks to the Vicar and Mrs. Green whose home has ever been open to me on my visits to Hartlip. I shall not soon forget their kindness and hospitality.

Rev. Denis Gardiner will be succeeding me in September and I sincerely trust he will have as happy a time in Hartlip as I have had.

God bless you all.

DONALD WHITE.

PARISH NOTES

Congratulations

Once more to Mr. William Wakeley, and to all who work for him, on the award of the Fruiterers' Gold Medal and of four firsts in the Soft Fruit section at the County Show.

Welcome

To Mr. and Mrs. Burborough and their daughter, Yvonne, who have recently come from Surrey to live at Place Farm.

Welcome

Was also accorded to ringers from all over Kent on the evening of 10th July. The occasion was the Kent Association's Annual Rally, this year at Rainham. After a service and tea, members spread out to various towers, including our own; the ringing-chamber managed to contain at least 20 people and several methods were rung, our captain, Mr. Kitchingham, being invited to take part.

The Choir

Are asked to note that there will be no practices in August.

Singing

Of cathedral standard was heard in our church at Morning Prayer on 11th July. We are deeply grateful to the Quartet from Rainham who assisted us in our worship on that day.
