Young Wives' Fellowship

3rd November - "Hats and Handbags" ... Variety of Activities.

Accessorywise, most women plumb for the dependable neutrality of black, although the colours of autumn and later, of spring, do tend to stir up feelings of wistful deviation. The millinery display, worthy of Regent Street, beckoned to us as we entered. Members turned up with some delightful creations; all spotless and gay, some flowered, some feathered, some veiled, some leathered. There was a generous number of mirrors, and great fun and laughter ensued. The Y.W.F. funds were increased simply because "one woman's boater is another woman's breton!"

Grateful thanks to all members concerned, and to the organiser, Mrs. Paulley.

17th November - "Travel Films" ... Messrs. Watt, Charing.

Not all of us are likely to visit Holland, so that two of the three films took us right out of our work-a-day world, and set us down in the land of Delft china, Gouda cheese, wooden shoes, and tulip fields. We visited a cheese factory, and noted the scrupulous attention to detail and cleanliness.

The third film, showing the Queen Mother presenting awards at an Ice Gala, was short but supreme example of the advantages of colour. Colour dominated the evening from the blue of the china, the creaminess of the cheese, to the deep green of Sheigi Dextra's velvet tunic.

To those members and guests who attended, it was a welcome break from the prospects of a grey winter, and black and white T.V.

What do you know about the local history of this area? It is a subject that can be most absorbing, but if your answer to the question is "Not much" then come and hear Mr. Baldwin on Thursday, December 10th at the Methodist Schoolroom. He is well-known in the Medway towns as an authority on local history. The fact that this will be the second time he has come to speak to us is sufficient indication of what we expect.

DON'T FORGET -

5th December, at 2.30 - Church Christmas Bazaar
