THE HARTLIP CHURCH MONTHLY.

OCTOBER, 1893.

HOLY BAPTISM.

Sept. 17 - Ethel Maud, daughter of John and Esther Godden.

BURIAL.

Aug. 29 - John Flack, aged 62 years.

Our Bells have now been put in perfect order, and we wish our band of ringers every success. The Bells were re-dedicated by the Vicar on S. Matthew's Day, when a most helpful sermon preached by the Rev. J. B. Rust. The offertory amounted to 12s. 10d.

The Harvest Festival will be held on Sunday, 1st October. Holy Communion at 8.30 and after Morning Prayer. Offertories for the Hospital at Rochester.

The Annual Parish Tea will be on Tuesday, 3rd October, at 6.30 p.m. Tickets 4d. each. After the tea, at 7.30 p.m., all communicants (male and female) over eighteen years of age will asked to elect a Lay Representative for the Parish to the Conference of Clergy and Laity for this Rural Deanery. The Archbishop has ordered the election to be held in the first week in October, and the Vicar hopes by holding it after the tea to avoid having two Parish Meetings in one week. As soon as the election is over the Vicar will show some interesting magic lantern views of foreign countries. This entertainment will be free.

The Thursday Afternoon Girls' Bible Class at the Vicarage will commence at 3 p.m. on the 5th October.

The G.F.S. now meets weekly, on Wednesdays, at 5 p.m. at the Schools.

The Mothers' Meetings will recommence on Monday, 9th October, at 2.30 p.m., at the Vicarage.

Mr. H. S. Ring, late chorister at Rochester Cathedral, and a pupil of the Cathedral organist, has been appointed by the Vicar to the Organistship of Hartlip. The Cathedral Organist has given a very satisfactory testimonial to Mr. Ring's abilities.
