Death of Mr Henry Webb – We regret to have to record the death of this gentleman, the news of which reached Sittingbourne early on Wednesday morning. The sad event took place at Mr Webb’s London residence, Campden Hill-road, Kensington. Mr Webb had not been well since Christmas, having suffered from internal complaints, which originated with acute indigestion. The deceased gentleman, who was 74 years of age, had been twice married: he leaves a widow and six sons and daughters. Mr Webb’s country residence was The Parsonage, Hartlip at which place his father and other members of the family had from time to time resided. For several months during each year Mr Webb took up his abode in this pleasant village and his demise is much regretted by the parishioners generally.

Mr Webb was by profession a solicitor, having for many years been a member of the firm Messrs. Fairfoot, Webb and Rooke, of 6, Clement’s Inn, London. Mr Webb commenced his legal education at the office of the late Mr Robert Hinde, solicitor, Milton. He afterwards went to London and entered into partnership with the late Mr Fairfoot, and Mr Mortimer Rooke subsequently joined the firm. Mr Webb was actively engaged in practice until about twelve months since, when the deceased gentleman retired into private life, being succeeded in the firm by his eldest son, Mr Lumley Webb. Mr Arthur S. Webb, who resides in Newington, is the second son of the deceased, who, as is generally known, was brother of Mr George Webb of Tunstall. The interment will take place on Tuesday next at Hartlip, where more than one generation of the family have been buried.
