The following article appeared in The East Kent Gazette on the 20th of September 1890.

Death of Mr William Hollands – We have this week to record the death of Mr William Hollands, of Grainey Farm, Hartlip. The deceased, notwithstanding his advanced age, had enjoyed very good health, but last Saturday week he had a fall, and from that time he gradually sank, and expired on Wednesday morning last, at the age of 76 years. He was a native of this parish, and had lived here all his life, and for some time filled the office of overseer.
