The death occured at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, Rochester, on Saturday last of Mr. Frederick Attwood of Paradise Cottages, Hartlip, at the age of 65 years. He had been in poor health for several years, and had been a hospital patient for two weeks. Mr. Attwood had spent the whole of his life in the neighbourhood, having been born at Newington. He started work on the land at thirteen years of age, and soon after went to Paradise Farm, where he remained until the end, first under Mr. Herbert Hales and afterwards for the late Mr. Laurence Goodhew and his successors. A lover of games and sport, Mr. Attwood was a keen supporter of Hartlip Cricket Club. Mrs. Attwood died eleven years ago, and he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Cooper (also of Paradise Cottages) and four step-children. The funeral was held yesterday (Thursday), at Hartlip Parish Church, service being conducted by the Vicar, the Rev. J. W. Burley. The Sittingbourne Co-operative Society carrried out the funeral arrangements.
