Women's Institute

On Thursday, March 24th, ladies, have your "elevenses" at "Silver Birches" with Mrs. Partridge and Mrs. Kelvie, who will be delighted to see you. A Bring. and Buy Bran Tub, with wrapped gifts to the value of about one shilling, will be a feature. From ten-thirty until twelve.

A few minutes of the usual programme on March 8th will be devoted to a short film "Peace of Mind" - the story of the Pill and non-members will be very welcome to this open meeting, at 2.30 p.m.

Finally, glancing back, advice on Food for Health and Good Looks, given by a very pretty dietitian at the February meeting included details of a quickly made, crunchy-crusted wheatmeal loaf - baked in a flower-pot. Most W.I. members can supply the recipe, but hurry if you would like to make it. Come the Spring there will not be a vacant flower-pot in all Hartlip!

7.40 Fellowship

The activities of the 7.40 Group over the last three months have been both varied and enjoyable, such as films on Nigeria and Rhodesia; a visit to the County Library at Springfield; carol singing at Keycol Hospital, and a talk by the Vicar of Upchurch. We look forward to Sunday, 27th February, when we meet together for Communion at 8 o'clock, followed by breakfast (and a cooked one, too!) at the School and a morning's hike, and sandwiches at the end of it.

Guides and Brownies

Guides. The Company's first adventure to Switzerland, to see the Guide International Chalet in Adelboden, was enjoyed so much, we have decided to plan a second visit abroad! On 25th August we are off to Denmark and Sweden, and hope to meet some of their Guides. We are going to stay near Elsinore, Hamlet's town, which is by the sea about twenty-five miles from Copenhagen. I am glad to say that two-thirds of the Company are going, and we are planning a special expedition for the, remaining few. There will also be week-end camps for each patrol during the summer term.

We congratulate, Elizabeth Davy who is now 1st Class, and welcome Clare Harris who is coming up from Brownies.

The Pack. Three more Brownies have just passed their 1st Class, Deirdre Kyle, Helen Graham and Sally Browne. Well done!
