live on after death with Him. The disciples of Our Lord kept their Sabbath, according to the Jewish custom, on our Saturday, and always had done so, but when Jesus arose from the dead they kept the first day of the week in commemoration of the day on which He arose and called it Sunday. Instead of keeping their Sabbath they gave it up and kept Sunday as the first day of the week on which Christ arose. That is how they changed from keeping their Sabbath to keeping Sunday.
I hope that you will all enjoy your Easter holidays and have a very happy time, and come back to school next term refreshed and well. I expect most of you will spend a great deal of time out of doors; do not miss noticing the beauty of all the spring flowers and blossom. So many people see all these wonderful things of nature, but only a few really appreciate them and see their beauty. When we see them we see these lovely things let us thank God in our hearts for making such wonderful nature.
There will be no Sunday School either at Hartlip or Newington on Easter Day, but I would very much like to see you come to Church and bring your Mother and Father, you could show them round the Church, which I hope will be very beautifully decorated for Easter. The Children's Corner, I know, will be specially decorated at Newington, and it would be nice to bring your parents and show them. I hope that you boys and girls will make that corner look very pretty. I hope that the boys and girls at Hartlip will also help make the Church beautiful for this great day, there is so much to be done on the Saturday morning before Easter.
With all good wishes for a Happy Easter.
Yours very sincerely,
J. W. NEILSON.
MOTHERS' UNION (Newington)
There will be an Enrolment Service on Tuesday, 2nd May, at 2.45 p.m., when a few will make their promises and become full members of the Mothers' Union. I hope that all members will endeavour to be present at this function and book the date and time now in advance. This will be the last meeting of the session, and if warm enough, and I hope that it will be, the service will be in Church.
The service next month on 4th April comes in Holy Week, and since there is a service in the evening on that day, I will ask you to come to that one instead of the usual afternoon service.
