The Vicarage,
27th June, 1930.

My Dear Friends,

Although we had not a large number of people from outside the parish at the Fete on June 7th, it was quite well attended, which showed the interest of our own people in it, and Miss Faussett-Osborne, and all who worked so well with her, are to be congratulated on the success of the effort. The Balance Sheet printed below shows that £35/5/0 has been added to the Parish Hall Fund as the result of the Fete. You will see that a Rummage Sale is to be held on Saturday, July 12th, and at this some of the things over from the Fete will be disposed of. By this another nice sum should be added to the fund. We shall be glad to receive at the Vicarage any old clothes, furniture, etc., that any one can send for this Sale. Come and get the bargains on July 12th and help on the cause.

Hartlip was fully represented by three of the members of our Council of Youth and myself, at the "Youth Pilgrimage" at Canterbury, on June 21st. It was an impressive sight to see the Nave of the Cathedral filled with young people, and just a few older ones for the Afternoon Service, and the big gathering of Youth in the Drill Hall in the evening for the Conference. Those who were present must have come away with the wish to help others to appreciate the privilege of our fellowship in the Church of Christ and the beauty of the true Christian life of worship and service. As the Bishop of Croydon said in his sermon, Youth can and should contribute so much to the Church, and we older ones should heartily welcome their freshness and outlook on the future.

The Rev. G. J. Browne visited our School for the Religious Inspection, on May 30th, and I have received a very good report from him. There is not room to print this in the July Magazine, but I hope to put it in the August one. It was pleasing to see the keenness of the children, and to hear their answers to Mr. Browne's questions.

I remain,
Your sincere Friend and Vicar,
D. H. CREATON.
