THE VICAR. - There is very good news about health, we are glad to say. He writes that the soft airs of Cornwall have been of great benefit to him, and that he expects to return to Hartlip on April 2nd.
PARISH HALL, GENERAL MEETING. - A General Meeting of the parish, about the proposed Parish Hall, was held in the Schools, on Thursday, January 30th, at 7.30 p.m., Lieut.-Colonel R. G. E. Locke being in the chair. The accounts were read by the secretary; Mr. Robert Savage, and passed by the meeting. The balance, including several amounts promised, both at and since the meeting, now stands at over £300. It was decided to take steps towards making an actual beginning in building. Mr. Faussett-Osborne, who has given a site on a 999 years lease, was asked, together with a small sub-committee which was appointed, to view several parish halls in the district, and to carry out certain enquiries as to materials and cost. Various suggestions were made as to methods to be adopted in aid of the building fund. Most of these were taken up with enthusiasm. Collectors are already at work, and it is earnestly hoped that everyone will give as generous a response to their invitations to subscribe as they possibly can.
WHIST DRIVE AND DANCE. - A whist drive and dance, organised by the British Legion, in aid of the Parish Hall Fund, was held in the Schools, on Friday, January 31st. In spite of the unkindest sort of weather, there were a great many people present, and the result, £5/5/5, was very satisfactory.
LENT. - Arrangements for Lent are now nearly completed, and will be announced in the March issue of the Magazine.
