REMEMBRANCE DAY. - As is the usual custom in Hartiip, on Monday, November 11th a short service was held in the morning at the War Memorial, and the two minutes' silence was observed. Quite a large number of parishioners attended as well as the senior boys and girls from the school. The service was conducted by the Rev. T. L. Brooke, who is in charge during the absence of the Vicar. A short but very appropriate address was given.
R.C.J S.
At a special service held in the Church on the previous Sunday evening, there was a large congregation, including a number of ex-Service men. A special address on "Remembrance and Reconciliation" was given by the Rev. T. L. Brooke, and the collections during the day, which were for the ex-Service Men's Fund, amounted to £2/6/9.
WHIST DRIVE AND DANCE. - The first of a series of entertainments in aid of the Parish Hall Building Fund was held in the Schools on Friday, November 15th. In spite of bad weather there was quite a cheery gathering. A great feature of the evening was a graceful exhibition dance by Miss Gladys Forbes, of Gillingham. Twenty-eight people sat down to play whist, the prizes being afterwards presented by Mrs. Saunders. Dancing was continued until midnight, to the Imperial Dance Band. The M.C.'s were Mrs. Saunders whist, and Mr. A. Harris dancing. In charge of the door were Messrs. W. Kitchingham and D. Attwood. We are very grateful to those who gave the excellent refreshments and prizes, and to all those who so willingly gave their services. A sum of £3/15/2 was handed over to the treasurer of the Parish Hall Fund.
