VICAR'S LETTER.

My dear People,

With this issue of the Magazine I want to give you all a reminder that our Patronal Festival and Harvest Thanksgiving is taking place on Friday, Sept. 28th, which is St. Michael's Eve, with a Service at 7.30 p.m. when the Rev. Dr. A. Jones, the Rural Dean, is coming to preach to us. The next morning, which is St. Michael's Day, there will be a celebration of Holy Communion at 10 o'clock. Then on Sunday, Sept. 30th, there will be services at 7 and 8 a.m., Matins and Celebration of Holy Communion at 11. Children's Service, with offering of eggs, at 3 p.m., and Evensong at 6.30 p.m.

Our alms go to St. Bartholomew's Hospital Rochester, the gifts in kind go to Keycol Hill Hospital.

We have sustained the loss of two regular worshippers during the past month. Mrs. Ongley received her call at the end of August, and we were all thankful to know her sufferings had come to an end, following a time of great pain. Three days later we Were saddened to know Mrs. Luck had passed from us, but here again all her friends, and they were many, were relieved to think the end had come to a long period of acute pain, cheerfully and patiently borne. I tried on the following Sunday to express a little of what we were all feeling, and there is not room to print all one would wish to write here. The sympathy of all goes out to the ones who mourn their loss, and the attendances at both funerals and the wealth of floral tribute were an indication of the high esteem in which both of the deceased were held by their own respective friends. Our loss, we believe, is their eternal gain, still we pray they may have light and peace in the paradise of God.

Your sincerely,

CECIL G. MUTTER.

G.F.S.
