VICAR'S LETTER.
My dear People,-
This letter is being written before Holy Week and Easter, and so I cannot refer, to the Services then. Our thanks go out to the Reverends E. M. Capper and H. M. Johnson for kindly coming to preach here in Lent. It is a pity more do not take the opportunity of coming when we have special preachers. It would seem more grateful for the trouble they take, to come here.
I have printed herewith a list of school holidays in case you want to make arrangements for the children at any time. Measles seen to have disappeared, and the mothers will admit it is a good riddance. The schools have returned to normal attendance.
With the Spring hope all will find renewed health and strength. It will be nice to see Mr. Rayfield about again, and our old friend Mr. Akhurst, who has not been at all well lately. Mrs. Scott has got over her operation in a London hospital, and hopes to be back home soon. Mrs. Simmonds is ill at Rainlham, and Mr. Ward is still far from fit. Hartlip seems to have had a big share of sickness this winter.
Confirmation Classes have started, and you will remember the date for the Bishop's visit is on Wednesday, May 9th, service at 7 p.m.
Your sincerely,
C. G. MUTTER
ANNUAL MEETINGS.
The Annual Parish Church Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 10th, in the Schoolroom, at 7 p.m. The annual accounts and reports are presented, followed by the election of Churchwardens and Sidesmen. Then follows the Annual Parochial Church Council Meeting, with election of new Councillors. It is hoped for a good attendance of parishioners. All registered members have a vote, but only Communicants are eligible for election to the Council.
Please bring a copy of the Annual Accounts with you.
MOTHERS' UNION.
The Corporate Communion of the Mothers' Union is at 7 a.m. on Apiil 10th and not at 10 a.m. as was printed in last month's magazine. 7 to 7.30 a.m. is the time given to this Deanery for the Chain of Prayer in which our Branch takes part. The Service will not take more than thirty-five minutes, and therefore it is hoped for a good attendance, and if any cannot be with us let them yet be with us in spirit at this time.
In the afternoon at 3 p.m in the Parish Hall there will be the Annual Meeting. We shall miss Mrs. Locke's guidance and witty sallies this time but we have to elect Officers and Committee and transact any business for the year following. Tea and bun as usual at the close.
PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL.
The Parochial Church Council met on Wednesday, March 14th. The Electoral Roll was revised. The annual accounts were passed for printing, and other items of business were dealt with. A grant of £2 was authorised towards the Parish Magazine deficiency. The date and time of the Annual Meeting was fixed.
