The Vicarage,
21st October, 1930.

My Dear Friends,-

The Archbishop had approved of November 14th as the date for my resignation to take effect. We shall be leaving on the 12th, and Sunday 9th will be my last Sunday here. May I say how much I should like to meet as many of our communicants as possible in the Lord's Own Service on that day at 8 a.m. or at noon?

So, far no one has been appointed as my successor, but I know the _Archbishop is moving in the matter, and we are praying that a priest suitable for the parish may be sent. Whoever he is, I hope you will give him the same kindly welcome you gave to me when I came to Hartlip. Upon your friendliness and co-operations so much will depend for the effectiveness of his work amongst you. It will mean so much to him as it has meant to me. In last month's Magazine I tried to say a little about this.

It is gratifying to me to be able to leave all the accounts with which I have had to do in a satisfactory state. I shall hand over a full statement of them with the balances, and no doubt they will be printed and circulated as usual after the close of the year.

I am also leaving a bound dopy of the Magazines from March 1923, to November, 1930. The story of the life of a village is in the Parish Magazine, and if copies were always bound and kept, the volumes would be a valuable history.

Mrs. Creaton and I are hoping to be able to call and say good-bye to you all, but if any should be out when we call or we should be otherwise prevented from seeing them, may we say good-bye through the Magazine.

Your sincere Friend and Vicar,
D. H. CREATON.

The cost of the New Wall in the Churchyard, together with new gate posts, and the re-building of a small piece of wall near the Vicarage garden

gate, was £33/18/11. This has been charged to the Churchyard Fund, and it will appear in the Balance Sheet.

It has been decided that the regular Armistice Service shall be held on Sunday evening, November 16th, when it is, hoped a special preacher may be secured. On Sunday, 9th, we shall not forget the Armistice, and there will be the usual short service at the War Memorial (in the Church if wet), on Tuesday, November 11th, at 10.45. Please remember the "two Minutes' silence" at 11 a.m. on that day.

THE SCHOOLS.

At a meeting of the Trustees and of the Managers held on October 8th, it was unanimously resolved "That no dancing be allowed in the Schoolroom after 11 p.m., and that no vehicles be allowed to be parked on the school premises." It was felt that until the Parish Hall is built the school may be let for dancing as well as for other entertainments, but those responsible for the premises could not approve of late hours being kept.

The Trustees appointed Mr. S. D. Hollands to be their Treasurer pro. tem. from November 1st, and the Managers also appointed him to be their Treasurer and the Correspondent of the School. All books, papers, and accounts will be handed over to Mr. Hollnds, and he should be approached on any matters connected with the school.
